If Rose Higginson-Burford, ARgENTUM’s Creative Designer, had been given the CAREGIVER archetype in her early 20s, she knows she would’ve struggled to see or feel that energy in herself. “I would definitely shy away from interacting with this archetype”, she reflects. “However, I’ve been so lucky to be surrounded by people who have strong CAREGIVER characteristics, that over time I’ve learnt how to engage and become in-tune with this archetype”.
That journey began when she joined ARgENTUM, just after turning 21. “Starting at ARgENTUM was quite an awakening for me,” she says. “To be presented with the framework of 12 BECOME 1 and archetypes outside of branding and having the invitation to look deeper within yourself really took me aback”. She remembers how, in those early days, team members would draw cards for one another, discuss what they were drawn to, and reflect on what the archetypes meant to them. “I probably wasn’t as open as I am now to the idea of self-reflection”.
But over time ~ through emotional growth, learning to offer herself self-compassion, and making a conscious decision to change how she cared for herself ~ Rose began to connect with the CAREGIVER archetype in a real and personal way. “When I look at the CAREGIVER card now, sometimes what I see is the need to be kind to myself and replenish my resources”.
To her, CAREGIVER energy is like “topping up your metaphorical cup with water”. It’s about maintaining balance so you can give to others from a place of fullness. “It can have a ripple effect and can give strength and inspire others”, she says. “It’s a real ebb and flow situation ~ sometimes you need to replenish, and sometimes you have it in you to give”.
Her CAREGIVER playlist reflects that flow. Designed as a companion for long walks ~ what she calls one of the best things she does for her mental health ~ it holds space for reflection, restoration, and joy. “Whether it’s with my partner, with the dog, in the Lake District with a friend, or by myself, I always feel refreshed after a walk”.
The playlist follows the rhythm of that experience: “There are some slower tracks to allow time for reflection” she says, “but then I just like to feel free, uplifted, and think of the things I’m grateful for ~ which is when the happier tracks kick in”. There’s a thoughtful arc throughout ~ one that mirrors the inner journey of softening, tuning in, and then lifting yourself back up.
‘Here Comes the Sun’ evokes childhood road trips to Cornwall, where her mum would play it to start their holiday mixtape ~ a quiet, maternal act of caregiving in itself. ‘Put Your Records On’ became her personal anthem during the COVID years, cycling along the Thames, needing a moment of lightness. “To me, this is an ultimate feel-good song that I would give to anyone to top up their energy levels”.
This isn’t a playlist of perfection or performance ~ it’s one of presence. A reminder that care begins at home. That you are worthy of your kindness.
As Rose puts it:
“Just remember to top up your glass before you give generous pours”.
