Beyond the Breath, with Joy & Jamie

Stepping into our flagship store in Notting Hill, there’s an immediate sense of calm ~ a place designed to inspire wonder and stillness in equal measure. Within this space, we gathered for ‘Beyond the Breath’, an evening of guided breathwork, conversation, and fragrance, in collaboration with breathwork expert Jamie Clements.


Our founder, Joy, and Jamie opened the evening with a conversation that set the tone for the journey ahead… With archetype card readings and scent carefully chosen to accompany the experience, each guest was invited to reflect on the energies at play in their lives. As the music of East Forest filled the space, the atmosphere deepened ~ a moment of quiet anticipation before stepping into something more profound.

As the evening unfolded, Joy and Jamie introduced the breath workshop, sharing insights into how the breath connects us to balance, clarity, and presence. Jamie explained that “practising breathwork daily can have a whole host of benefits to our overall health and wellbeing, with research showing its impact across physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health”.

From there, our guests were gently guided through a series of breathwork techniques, each designed to align the body and soul, creating space for stillness and renewal. With each inhale and exhale, the energy shifted ~ tension released, minds quietened, and a collective sense of grounding took hold.

Jamie introduced us to foundational techniques, beginning with ‘Breath Awareness & Functional Breathing’ ~ “This foundational practice helps you reconnect with your breath, laying the groundwork for better physical and mental wellbeing by ensuring your breathing is efficient and natural”. He encouraged us to notice how our breath shifts throughout the day, inviting awareness and curiosity into something we often take for granted.

As we moved deeper into the practice, we explored ‘Extended Exhale Breathing’ ~ a powerful tool for calming the nervous system. “The extended exhale activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the ‘rest and digest’ response”, Jamie explained. “This helps to reduce those feelings of anxiety and stress”. The room became quieter still, a space of deepened stillness as each guest settled into the rhythm of their breath.

For moments when energy and clarity are needed, Jamie introduced us to ‘Power Breathing’, a technique designed to lift the fog and boost focus. “This exercise is perfect for the mornings or when you hit an afternoon slump”, he shared. The contrast of calm and invigoration demonstrated how much control we have over our state of being ~ if only we take the time to tune in.

As breath carried each guest into a deep state of rest, their minds softened, their bodies surrendered, and a quiet openness took hold. In this stillness, the guided visualisation unfolded naturally ~ imagery rose effortlessly, and emotions settled with each exhale. The moment became one of quiet transformation, where each guest received what they needed ~ held within the rhythm of their breath.

As Joy said, so beautifully, “Our flagship store is a place of wonder and calm ~ where fragrance, conversation, and connection create a space for transformation”. ‘Beyond the Breath’ was just that ~ an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect.

We all left with more than just a memory; we left with a deeper awareness of the breath that carries us through each moment. And that, in itself, is a gift.
